After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in journalism, I moved north to Chicago, where I eventually studied social work at the University of Chicago. For the past 25 years, I have lived in Raleigh, NC, with my family, though I'm now slowly replacing my kids with cats.
